If you don't think that B.C.'s foremost artist and character is still kicking up her heels, make a date with the north end (Riverside Road) of the Kinsol Trestle for 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12th. The press and television crews are expected to be on hand to cover Molly Raher Newman as she makes another of her successful 'living history' presentations in this colourful role.
As part of her Emily Carr Project, a cross-country commemorative tour in 2007 that celebrates the life of this internationally famous artist, Ms. Newman, who dresses and acts the part, and other artists (all are invited to participate) will capture the Kinsol Trestle on canvas.
Ms. Newman, who is also hosting Kinsol: An Inspiration, an art show at the Cowichan Valley Museum & Archives in Duncan, has kindly offered to donate her painting of the Kinsol Trestle to the Live Auction at the Cowichan Historical Society's 'Moving the Past' Gala. To be held on Saturday, Feb. 3rd 2007, at the Oceanfront Grand Resort & Marina in Cowichan Bay, tickets are $75 per person. The event will include dinner, a live auction and prizes. Charitable tax receipts will be issued. The Gala is in aid of funds for the new home of the Museum's Archives on the top floor of Duncan's heritage city hall.
